Magento OCI & cXML PunchOut Plugin

Magento is a powerful and scalable e-commerce platform for medium to large-scale online stores. Thanks to its modular structure, Magento can be easily extended with custom integrations, such as OCI and cXML PunchOut.

Abeta has developed a proprietary Magento OCI plugin for this purpose. You can install this module directly via the Magento Marketplace or through Composer. It allows you to quickly and easily offer PunchOut capabilities from your Magento store.

Unlike custom-built frameworks like Laravel or cloud platforms like Shopify, Magento has a heavy and complex core structure. Our plugin is specifically designed to handle this efficiently:

• Maintains performance: Magento uses a complex Entity-Attribute-Value (EAV) database structure that can slow down when processing large volumes of additional B2B data. Our plugin captures the OCI and cXML fields in the background and processes them via the Abeta middleware outside of Magento. This keeps your database clean and maintains your store's performance.
• No conflict with updates: Magento environments are sensitive to major updates (such as core upgrades). Because the integration software runs within our middleware rather than being fully built into Magento itself, the PunchOut connection remains functional even after a store update.
• Complete checkout separation: The plugin immediately detects whether a visitor is a regular customer or a PunchOut user. Regular orders flow through the standard checkout process, while PunchOut users are routed back to their ERP system, ensuring both flows operate independently without conflict. Behind the scenes, the plugin resolves Magento’s B2B limitations while allowing you to retain full control over your storefront's look and feel. Abeta is, of course, available to assist you with connecting and testing the integration.

#How does the Magento OCI & cXML plugin work?

The plugin connects your online store via our middleware to your customers' procurement software (such as Coupa, SAP Ariba, Spend Cloud and AFAS). Abeta bridges the gap between the webshop and the procurement system. This process is completely transparent to the customer, who experiences it as a direct connection to the store.

This process consists of 3 steps:

#1. Authentication / Login

When a customer wants to log in, their procurement system sends a request. This OCI or cXML PunchOut request is received by Abeta and, after verification, forwarded to the Magento OCI plugin. The user is then automatically logged into the store.

#2. Cart transfer (PunchOut)

Our plugin ensures that the PunchOut user does not complete the checkout within the online store. Instead of the standard checkout process, the plugin provides a dedicated button to transfer the cart data back to the procurement system. The Abeta middleware can apply the correct data mapping or perform necessary data adjustments and translations during this step.

#3. Purchase order receiving (optional)

The purchase order can be sent directly back to the Magento store or an underlying ERP system. The middleware ensures that orders from different procurement systems are correctly delivered into your Magento environment.
